Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases which slowly damage the optic nerve. The damage is most often (not always) due to increased eye pressure. The optic nerve carries all of the visual information from the eye to the brain.
In the early stages, the individual will have subtle and unnoticeable loss of their peripheral vision. If Glaucoma is left untreated it leads to irreversible vision loss. If caught early, glaucoma can be treated with eye drops, laser or surgery.
As there are no early warning signs it’s important to have your eyes tested regularly for early detection and subsequent treatment. Our glaucoma package includes a comprehensive eye exam, dilated pupil examination, visual field test, OCT scan of the optic nerve and corneal thickness measurement.
